New Manager Takes Over Toronto Blue Jays
With Cito Gaston retired, new manager John Farrell takes over a Toronto Blue Jays team that hit a lot of home runs last season but did not get on base enough. The teams 85-77 finish was respectable but good for just fourth place behind the Rays, Yankees and Red Sox in the competitive American League East Division. The team hopes that the addition of speed and an improved bullpen will give them a better chance to compete in 2011.
Gone from last years team is closer Kevin Gregg who saved 37 games and also Jeremy Accardo, both of whom left to join the division rival Baltimore Orioles. Replacing them though are a cast of pitchers who once were closers on other clubs.
Aaron Hill also had a disappointing 2010 following a big 2009 season. In 2009, Hill hit 36 home runs and drove in 108. A . 285 hitter in his first five major league seasons, his average fell to . 205 last year, though the power was still there with 26 home runs and 68 RBIs. Hill did battle injuries early in the season so a bounce back 2011 is possible.
If Hill falters again, Brett Lawrie could press him for playing time. Lawrie came over from the Brewers in an off season trade for pitcher Shaun Marcum. Lawrie is considered a potential future all star and a possible rookie of the year candidate if he can find a spot in the lineup. He might have to play some outfield, but it is also possible that Hill could hit in the designated hitter spot with Lawrie playing some at second base.
Last season, third baseman Jose Bautista led all of baseball with 54 home runs. His former career best was 16 home runs, leading many to wonder if he can come close to his 2010 numbers. Even if he hits between 30 to 40 home runs, Bautista would provide a major force in the middle of the Toronto batting order.
Of course, one of the biggest developments in the off season for Toronto was the trade of long time fan favorite Vernon Wells. Wells was traded to the Angels in a salary saving move designed to give the Blue Jays payroll flexibility in the future. In the trade, the Jays got Mike Napoli, a power hitting catcher, and Juan Rivera, an outfielder, in return. Just days after the trade, Toronto flipped Napoli to the Texas Rangers in exchange for reliever Frank Francisco. Rivera is another power bat option capable of 25 home runs if healthy.
At just 23, outfielder Travis Snider is already entering his third major league season. Injuries plagued Snider last year, but he still hit . 255 with 14 homers and 32 RBIs, but he finished the season strong, hitting six homers in September. If he puts it all together as expected, Snider is seen as easily a 30 homer, 100 RBI hitter.
Drabek in particular could be a key to Blue Jays success this season. He could solidify an already strong Toronto rotation that gives the Blue Jays quality innings. Along with the added speed of Podsednik and Davis to blend in with the already formidable power, the team should score plenty of runs. With a veteran bullpen full of former closers, they should be able to protect leads as well. The 2011 season should be fun for Jays fans and the future looks bright.

Does a blue lobsters arm grow back it it is ripped off?
I came home one day and noticed my Australian Blue lobster had shed its skin, and also noticed one of its arm was off. Im not shure if it just fell of when it shed its skin or if another fish attacked it. I have Malawi african cichlids in my 90 gallon tank.
The same thing happened to mine but I actually saw my cichlids eat his little claw. My little guy's claw never grew back. He didn't seem to care though-still was mean as ever!
Blue Jays Rant :: Blue Jays Find Their Closer, Trade For Sergio Santos (Sports Blogs)
The Blue Jays have a power arm in the 9th. It's not the first time they've had
Sergio Santos (he was a Blue Jays prospect at short before converting to a
picture), but he'll return to the team this time essentially having ownership
of the closer's chair in 2012. At least, he'll get the first [...]
