In this technofest, I have seen a technology " Mesophase Pitch for Advanced Carbon Product" which was developed by NPL (National Physical Laboratory), New Delhi under the aegis of CSIR, New Delhi, India.

A pitch with a complex mixture of numerous essentially aromatic hydro-carbons containing anisotropic liquid-crystalline particles (carbonaceous mesophase) detectable by optical microscopy and capable of coalescence into the bulk mesophase.
NPL, New Delhi, has developed Mesophase Pitch for Advanced Carbon Product and it is a high purity pitch made from coal tar pitch/petroleum pitch with suitable softening point, high coking value and high mesophase content.
