This has led to a huge amount of buzz going around the internet with all the new announcements. This post will simply keep you up-to-date with all the announcements that came out of the E3 Expo.
The gaming expo all started with Microsoft. They announced a huge number of new games during their conference. Here's some of the game that you can expect to see being released in the near future:
- Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 – November 10th 2009
- Metal Gear Solid: Rising
- Halo 3: ODST – September 22nd 2009

- The Beatles: Rock Band – September 9th 2009
Aswell as all these massive games, they also announced a range of massive console features that we can expect to see coming to the 360 in the next few months. These included:
- Twitter and Facebook modified for the 360
- Netflix
- Sky TV
- Last FM (free for gold members)
- Zune HD video
Possibly the biggest console feature they announced was Project Natal. Project Natal is controller free gaming where you will be able to use your body to control your games. The 3D camera uses facial recognition to log you automatically into Xbox Live, voice activation to start video, games or chats just by saying so. And finally, a very new and interesting way to navigate your way through the Xbox 360 dashboard, by using your hand as a scroller. No release date has currently been announced for this great new feature.
Later that day came the EA conference where they announced a series of game releases that included:
- Star Wars: The Old Republic – 2010
- Need for Speed: Shift – September 17th 2009
- Fight Night Round 4 – June 26th 2009
- EA Sports Active
- EA Sports Grand Slam Tennis – June 12th 2009
- Mass Effect 2 – January 10th 2010
- Brutal Legend – October 16th 2009
- The Sabateur
- Crysis 2
- Dragon Age Origins – October 20th 2009
- Dante’s Inferno – February 2010
- Madden NFL 10
- MMA: Mixed Martial Arts – 2010
After EA came Ubisoft with some pretty big and awesome looking game announcements. These included the following:
- Assassin’s Creed 2
- Splinter Cell Conviction
- Red Steel 2
- No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle
- Avatar: The Game
- Shaun White Snowboarding World Stage
- Academy of Champions
- Casual Games
- Your Shape
- Rabbids Go Home
- TMNT: Turtles in time Re-shelled
That was all the excitement over for the first day of the expo, on the second day game another 2 console developers, Nintendo and Sony.
Nintendo kicked off the second day with some big game annoucements for their consoles, the Wii and the newest DSi. These included the following:
- Metroid Prime: Other M
- Super Mario Galaxy 2
- Wii Fit Pluz
- New Super Mario Bros
- Wii Sports Resort
- The Conduit
- Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles
- Dead Space Extraction
They also announced the vitality sensor which is a thumb grip, similar to the ones used in hospitals, to measure your pulse rate. They announced that this new feature would be included in a series of games that are designed to help you relax.
Although there were only 2 conferences on the second day, Sony still managed to cause some buzz with their conference where they announced some massive game releases, some new console features aswell as a brand new console announcement.
You can expect to see the following PS3 releases in the near future:
- Uncharted 2: Among Thieves
- Heavy Rain
- Massive Action Game
- Agent
- Gran Turismo 5
- God of War 3
- The Last Guardian
- Modnation Racing
As for hardware announcements, they announced that they are developing some technology similar to the Wii. This new piece of tech requires 2 controllers, very similar to the Wii, however this tech uses a camera like Project Natal. They hope that they will be able to incorporate this tech into many of their games aswell as games purposely created for the controllers.
Sony's final announcment of their conference was a brand new console, the PSP Go. The new PSP Go is basically a smaller and lighter version of the current PSP, but with a slide up screen that uncovers the controls. The new PSP Go will contain an internal flash drive which will store all your games, meaning you don't have to carry discs out with you. It also contains build in WiFi, Bluetooth and a slot for a flash drive to gain extra storage space.
Even though that was it from all of the major console developers and game publishers, I'm positive that all of the above announcements will keep us all busy until next years E3 Expo.
Keep up-to-date with the latest video game news aswell as some video game reviews at ScroobyOnline.
How does the punishment of the alchemists fit their crime in Dante's Inferno?
The alchemists (falsifiers of metals) are covered in scabs that itch. They tear their own skin apart by scratching it. How does this punishment fit the crime?
Essentially, the traditional answer is that Alchemists corrupted God's creations through their art. Therefore, their punishment is for their bodies to be corrupted into putrid, rotting hunks of flesh.
While this makes sense, I personally feel that the decomposition of flesh may also allude to the long term effects that Alchemists may have experienced. If one is, for example, working extensively with lead trying to turn it into gold, one may easily develop lesions that could become quite disgusting infections. An Alchemist's experiments dealt with other caustic or carcinogenic elements (mercury, sulfur, and the like). I suspect that an alchemist would have looked like the 'before' pictures on a ProActive commercial. Hence Dante taking that image to the extreme. One would have seen the illness suffered by alchemists as a divine punishment in life. Why not carry over that apparent punishment to eternity.
Nokia to Battle Android In the U.S. With Unique Devices Across Carriers (readwriteweb)
Nokia phones are not coming to the United States this year but when they do in
2012 it will be a series of devices differentiated by from carrier to carrier.
According to Chris Weber, the head of Nokia's North American operation, there
are some tricky obstacles to rolling out in the U.S. and Nokia is working with
the cellular operators to bring unique Windows Phone devices to each.
When Stephen Elop said that the U.S. would have a "product portfolio" at the
end of the Nokia World keynote, what he really meant was that each device at
each U.S. individual carrier will be different. Think of it in the same guise
that Samsung takes with its original Galaxy S series - ubiquitous and
everywhere.

## Battle For Tops: Samsung v. Nokia
When it comes to device manufacturing, the two top phone makers in the world
are Nokia and Samsung. Nokia sells nearly 1.1million phones (smart and
feature) per day with about 365 million phones sold yearly. That is even with
the recent downturn that the company has seen as its platform.
Samsung execs are gunning for Nokia's top spot and have been for the last
several ...
