Model Kits Get Along With Video Games
It would seem to me that more and more people out there are playing video games all of the time and this may be because people actually find it cheaper to buy a video game than to go out a meal, it helps that the industry has seen bigger budgets and also marketing efforts have been risen. They are also starting to appeal to more than one audience with things such as plastic model kits even coming with some of the most important games.
As just an example I will be looking into Halo Reach because it is upcoming and huge. The game itself is not out until September (the Beta is running this month) and already you can pre-order three separate editions of the game itself which is pretty crazy but it works in the same way that Halo 3 did. The first edition will simply consist of the game. The next edition is once again just like Halo 3 as it is going to be called limited edition and it comes with in game elite armour, an artefact bag, Spartan II patch and Dr Halsey's security badge. The very final edition of the game will consist of all of the above as well as a massive Noble team statue and an exclusive in-game Spartan armour effect.
The great thing about this model is that it will reach out to people that simply collect things. I have also seen companies like Mega Bloks invest into Halo and release figures of the various things. I have also seen a remote control Warthog (from the halo franchise) so there are already things like RC Nitro cars starting to appear on the market.
So the next thing has surely got to be RC helicopter based on things like pelicans from the Halo universe so look out for all kinds of models being released around video games.
Which Gundam type model kit is the best I can acquire?
Hi. I want to get my hands on a Gundam Model Kit since I have become a huge fanatic of the anime Mobile Suit Gundam SEED and SEED Destiny. However, I find that there are three different kinds of Mobile Suit models. So I want to ask you, which is best for me. I'll list them just in case.
There is the 1/144 scale type models and the 1/100 scale type models. The 1/60 and the master grade aren't what I'm after. Can anyone help me please? Any help would be beneficial.
You must be a beginner, right?
I strongly suggest that you buy the HG 1/144 models. These models won't require you to repaint parts, and they are already presentable out of the box. Plus, they have lesser parts than their large scale counterparts. Also, they are cheaper thus you won't feel so bad just in case you lost a part or you broke it.
Oh and a warning, the latter Gundams like Strike Freedom are harder to make due to their additional parts (Dragoon system, wings, etc...)
When you already have the confidence to build the 1/144 models, you can upgrade to the 1/100 and MG models and incorporate painting techniques in your work.
Good Luck and Happy Modelling! ^_^
Dekerf Team SST review (Bike Radar)
Chris Dekerf founded the company that bears his name in 1991, and today’s Team
SST frame has a clear lineage all the way back to the first bikes. It’s had
tubing and geometry tweaks but is recognisably similar to the very first Dekerf
Mountain.
**Ride & handling: Playful, agile handling**
The Team SST exhibited a distinctly playful demeanour. It’s a decent weight
even with the beefy build kit, and while on the face of it the RockShox Sektor
fork doesn’t look like an ideal match for the frame there’s a lot to be said
for a sturdy, accurate through-axle model on any bike.
The Sektor’s more than happy to lead the way and the rest of the bike will
follow. The relatively heavy wheels did dull acceleration a little but the
overall weight isn’t at all bad for a build with generally robust parts. The
main thing to focus on, though, is the handling, which is excellent.
Dekerfs have always proven themselves as great-handling bikes and the Team SST
is no exception. It’s pretty old-school, eschewing the modern trend for super-
slack angles in favour of traditional cross-country geometry. That worked for
years and, for a ...
