Arai RX-Q Helmet
Arai says the Arai RX-Q is “a helmet purpose-built to be the ultimate street helmet, to set a new benchmark in street comfort, quiet, ventilation and stability, every feature optimized for the conditions, speeds and environment of the real world. A helmet for the other top-of-the-line models to compete against.”
Arai says it’s a Corsair-V for the street, one that’s aimed at the “pro street rider, experienced, not a poser…one who can readily feel and appreciate the differences built into this thing, who reels of mega-miles no matter which way the road flexes, on every kind and style of bike.”
Arai claims it’s taken everything it knows about making a super lightweight, super ventilated race helmet, everything it knows about making a comfortable, high quality road helmet and combined the best of both into the new Arai RX-Q. Headlining the new features are an extremely wide visor aperture, specially constructed cheekpads that now cradle your head from below in the aim of drastically improving comfort, ventilation that increases airflow while decreasing wind noise and a shell that’s both stronger and features a larger opening for easier ingress and egress.
Much time goes into creating a design built upon safety; sometimes, it’s a 24/7 thing.
To change the shield, lifting it causes a little lever to deploy from beneath each sideplate. Raise a lever while simultaneously pulling away the shield on that side. Replacing it involves some futzing to fit the shield into its receptacle.
The Arai RX-Q has a new cheekpad design to enhance fit, comfort and to block out noise, and here they got it right. Because the cheekpads form a more complete enclosure it may require more effort to force your head through them, but once inside its interior seems to almost lovingly absorb your head. I was easily able to slip on my glasses once wearing the helmet. Pulling down on the chin curtain deploys a retractable chin spoiler. What really impressed me is that the RXQ is one of the quietest helmets I’ve ever worn, and at 55 ounces (or just under 3.5 pounds) it’s toward the light side as full-face helmets go.
Arai have an incredible reputation for quality and safety backed up by many famous motorcycle racers who rely on the brand for their lives. {Arai have also been voted highest in customer satisfaction for 12 consecutive years by thousands of riders polled in the JD Power and Associates Motorcycle Helmet Satisfaction Study.}
Arai announced this helmet in Spring of 2010 discontinuing the Quantum in America. The Arai RX-Q is a new model Like the Arai Vector and the Corsair V Arai call the RX-Q an “Intermidate Oval” Shape. Arai markets the RX-Q helmet as the “ultimate street helmet” because it combines the safety and functionality of Arai’s full-blown race technology with the comfort needed for everyday street riding. Consider it the street savvy cousin of Arai’s Corsair V.
Close the face shield, push in on the black button on its left side and it clicks closed for positive locking. Or hook it open with a thumb and it lets in a slight cooling/defogging breeze. In the center of the wing on the back is a button that, when slid rearward, uncovers paired exhaust vents. It’s a two-step control, but the adjustment is so fine that most riders will simply utilize it as open or closed. Regardless of the position of the exhaust vents, clicking open the pair of top vents (easy to find even while wearing gloves) sends in (depending upon speed) a blast of air. ~}Finally, the chinbar vent sends in a cooling/demisting breeze.
Im getting a wing/spoiler on a super white '09 scion xB. Should it be black or white?
My rims are pure black and im planning to tint my windows more. Your opinion?
white. it'll look sleeker that way imo. black windows + black rims = sexy. but that black spoiler will look out of place. if you wanted to do that, then you might as well just do a half white and half black paint scheme...but its still odd because the bottom half will be white with black rims.
your xB is gonna look like a stormtrooperrrr. +10 coolness right there. but i mean, if anything, just leave it off. it looks pretty cool as of now.
