Tiger to Get Caddy with Buick Contest Winner

Even the lousiest golfer can be a winner of a new Buick promotion and end up with Tiger Woods as a personal caddy. All it takes is some strong prediction skills.
Buick’s “Tee off with Tiger” multi-platform campaign launched today, including TV, print, online and radio. Digitas, Boston, handles the creative, which features golf pro Woods.
Broadcast will break on Thursday during telecasts of the PGA Tour in Orlando, Fla., and there will be a front-page buy in The Wall Street Journal on Friday. Buick will also take over the homepages of Fox Sports, Weather.com and AOL.
“We’ll have a mostly golf weight for March, then take it out for a brand campaign where our other stuff is running,” said Larry Peck, golf marketing manager for Buick.
As part of the campaign, consumers are being routed online to www.teeoffwithtiger.com, where they can participate in a promotion by predicting Woods’ round-by-round score for any tournament he plays in through Sept. 28.
The top ten participants from each tournament will go into a pool for the Tiger-as-caddy promotion. The winner will receive two round-trip plane tickets to La Jolla, Calif., site of the 2008 Buick Invitational and U.S. Open championship, two-nights hotel stay and golf merchandise. Then on Oct. 20, the winner will get to play at the Torrey Pines golf course with Woods hauling the clubs.
Additionally, the participant who guesses closest to Woods’ tally each tournament will win the Buick that Woods drove during that tourney.
