Lamborghini Plotting One More Murcielago

Lamborghini’s planning one final edition of its Murcielago supercar — and Britain’s Autocar magazine reports that it will be the first rear-wheel-drive Murc to appear in the Lambo lineup.
Set for launch later this year, the new SV edition will be spun from the current LP640 edition of the Murcielago, but will sport more power than the 641-bhp Reventon edition (shown here) that’s been on the auto-show circuit this year. Minus about 200 pounds of extra weight — the front differential and driveshafts chief among the ditched parts — and making about 680 bhp, the SV edition should turn in blistering 0-60 mph acceleration figures in the 3-second range.
A photo of an SV test car on the Autocar Web site shows a huge rear wing, which the magazine reports is fixed in place and made of carbon fiber.
The Murciélago SV won’t be the first Lambo in history to go from four- to rear-wheel drive: back in the days of the Diablo, Lamborghini offered a rear-drive edition of that supercar at the end of its lifespan.
