The Toyota and Lexus modifying veterans at Five Axis have put together a seriously hot-rodded Lexus GS 460 for the SEMA show. Following up last year’s IS F concept, the Troy Sumitomo-designed super sedan was revealed on Tuesday. As the teaser illustrations hinted, the Five Axis GS 460 features a widebody kit housing massive 20-inch offset wheels, 8.5 inches up front and 10.5 at the rear. Custom-formatted PPG paint contrasts with the blackout wheel trim.

As if the four IS-Fs, the factory-prepped IS 350 and the custom GS 460 weren’t impressive enough, Lexus announced that its SEMA Show booth will also host the premiere of a LX 570 SUV that has been modded by ICON 4×4 Design. The highlights include a two-tone matte gray paint finish complemented by black chrome trimming and massive 24-inch alloy wheels wrapped around in Pirelli Scorpion Zero Asimmetrico 285/35R-24 rubber. Mechanical upgrades on the LX 570 comprise of a custom intake and a sport exhaust system as well as a performance brake system with 6-piston units up front and 4-piston at the back. Continued

Lately there seems to be an abundance of concept proposals all over the net from independent designers -professional or amateur. The most recent one to fall upon our hands is the Lexus LF SS which is a somewhat futuristic study for a next-generation Lexus GS created by Jin Hee Kim. According to the designer, while the premium sports sedan concept features the same wheelbase length as the current GS, the two vehicles differ significantly in their styling, drivetrain and packaging. Lexus has chopped off two doors and the roof from the IS250 to create the IS250C, due to arrive in Europe in the summer of 2009, and the U.S. shortly thereafter.
The 2009 Lexus IS250C features a three-piece aluminum roof that retracts in a “world’s fastest” 20 seconds, and features revised overhangs 15mm (front) and 55mm (rear) longer than the sedan, a new fog lamp design and a rising beltline that integrates into the revised haunches. The IS250C’s rear end leaves a lot to be desired, with an odd assortment of angles terminating into a set of awkwardly placed LED taillights. With the top up, nothing seems to seamlessly blend together, looking like an ill-advised amalgamation of the outgoing SC430 and BMW 335i. Inside, thing get mildly better – in typical staid Lexus tradition – with a set of rollover hoops for the rear seat passengers, a 12-speaker Mark Levinson sound system and a speed sensitive climate control system that will boost the heat during open air jaunts. And naturally, you can fit a golf bag in the trunk with the top down. Continued

the Lexus LF-A Roadster concept to prototype to production model to……nothing? WTF? Well, the problem is that Toyota is having issues with the $225,000 production cost that makes this car unprofitable. At this point the LF-A remains in the development stage. The F in the car’s label refers to it’s status as a vehicle being developed through a program that falls outside the normal Lexus engineering and development process. The car is powered by a 5 cylinder V10 engine that cranks out over 500-hp and speeds above 200-mph. The car’s body shape and features are different from the usual models by the Toyota owned luxury line. For now, car enthusiasts can only hope that this supercar can graduate out of concept status and into production soon!

While Lexus’ execs continue to be tight lipped on the revised IS, the Japanese automaker has uploaded photos of the car on a number of its sites. The photos that we scanned confirm the minor changes seen in the official brochure that was leaked into the web last month. Unless you look really close, chances are that you probably won’t even notice any differences. The styling revisions are limited to a slightly tweaked front grille, restyled tail lamp crystals featuring L-shaped back-up lights, redesigned exterior mirrors with integrated turn signals and new alloy wheel designs. The 2009 IS will also get new exterior and interior color combinations along with a revised electronic stability control system. According to Carscoop sources, the 2009 IS will make its public debut at the Paris Show in October

Next week’s Moscow International Auto Show (August 26th) is gathering the attention of many automakers this year. The latest firm to announce a global debut in Moscow is Lexus that will reveal a four-wheel-drive version of its LS460 Sedan. Like the LS600h, the LS460 AWD will use a permanent all-wheel drive system based around a Torsen differential that normally distributes 60 percent of the available drive torque to the rear axle and 40 percent to the front. Other than that, the LS460 AWD gets the same 381 HP 4.6-liter V8 engine matted to an 8-speed automatic transismison as the RWD LS460. Sales of the LS460 AWD will commence worldwide this November
