Despite the Camaro being unveiled almost 2 months ago, it wasn’t until last week that GM cheekily released a single image of the range topping Camaro SS. Now they have finally caught up with themselves and have issued seven new photos. Now we can get on with our lives…
The SS is distinguished by its raunchier front bumper fascia with mail slot in the top, SS badges on rear and grille. Add the optional RS appearance upgrade and the SS gets HID headlamps with integrated halo rings, spoiler, specific taillamps and 20-inch wheels. See pics after the jump Continued

With a 6.2L LS3 V8 producing 422 hp and 408 lb-ft of torque, the SS will be the cream of the Camaro crop for now and probably some time to come, as its power level puts the SS nearly on par with the base Corvette. While the Camaro SS may lack many of the Corvette’s other attributes, we’re fairly certain Chevy doesn’t want to start cannibalizing Vette sales.

Very interesting news about the new 2010 Chevrolet Camaro coming out of the oft first-to-know Camaro5 forums. Seems a handful of their number were offered the chance to tour the Mesa Arizona hot weather testing grounds and managed to see a couple of Camaros up close and personal. When asking engineers some questions, interesting things can come up, such as the possibility of a supercharger option, an independent rear suspension unlike the GTO setup, an inferred weight between 3,300 lbs and 4,000 lbs. and what’s this — flappy paddle shifters? Very interesting.

These shots, again from the always-willing-to-market-themselves folks at Camaro5, appear to be of the new Chevy Camaro we saw teased in that GM accessory video yesterday afternoon — body kit, ground effects and all. While we’re still not sure of the veracity of these shots — especially the photo of the Camaro from behind with the chrome on the wheels all a-gleamin’ — they look somewhat credible. Now as to whether or not they look good? That’s up to you, the commentariat. So — what say you? Is it real or is it Adobe-rex?

We’re always happy to see new details on the new muscle car from the General’s budget bargain basement brand. So what’s the new detail we found — other than we really don’t like the new mullet-mobile in white? Well, the engineering team is in Florida along I-75 with at least one white and one black Camaro and they’re doing testing of the engine to see how it performs in high humidity. Well, guess they didn’t want to wait for the summer in Detroit, eh? We’ve included two more shots below, as well as the rest of our spy photos of the new 2010 Chevy Camaro.
