The word is out that Chevrolet has already gotten more than 6,000 orders for it’s new 2010 Camaro. The hype is definitely sky high after all the images showing what the car looks like . It is a bad ass looking vehicle! What is surprising is that while most everyone is looking for more economical vehicles nowadays, the majority of the orders for the Camaro have requested the V8 engine. To be more specific 84% have requested the V8 Camaro SS model. There is a V6 option available but it looks as if everybody wants the power to back up the aggressive look of the car.

Despite the Camaro being unveiled almost 2 months ago, it wasn’t until last week that GM cheekily released a single image of the range topping Camaro SS. Now they have finally caught up with themselves and have issued seven new photos. Now we can get on with our lives…
The SS is distinguished by its raunchier front bumper fascia with mail slot in the top, SS badges on rear and grille. Add the optional RS appearance upgrade and the SS gets HID headlamps with integrated halo rings, spoiler, specific taillamps and 20-inch wheels. See pics after the jump Continued

With a 6.2L LS3 V8 producing 422 hp and 408 lb-ft of torque, the SS will be the cream of the Camaro crop for now and probably some time to come, as its power level puts the SS nearly on par with the base Corvette. While the Camaro SS may lack many of the Corvette’s other attributes, we’re fairly certain Chevy doesn’t want to start cannibalizing Vette sales.
