Audi R8 by Project Kahn

Audi R8 by Project Kahn

Project Kahn does the Audi R8. Kahn lowers the suspension and slaps on 20′ F1-X rims made of lightweight carbon fiber.

Afzal Kahn is a busy guy. He’s CEO of Kahn Design and head of Project Kahn, which brings us this Audi R8. He’s also working on Kahn Pizza delivery, which promises to deliver your pizza in a supercar over 200,000 dollars in value or your money back.

Anyway, Project Kahn does the Audi R8. Kahn lowers the suspension and slaps on 20″ F1-X rims made of lightweight carbon fiber. There are no more details than that, just the pic.

Project Kahn says on its website that, “You do not need to worry about the engine,” referring to Audi’s 4.2 liter FSI, 414 hp (309 kW) V8. Which we can interpret to mean that there won’t be any engine tuning to this Kahn creation.

But maybe Kahn has a point. Sometimes tuning squeezes too much out of an engine and takes away its suppleness and character. A 3.77kg/hp ratio is very respectable territory for a supercar and, to paraphrase the late Paul Newman, avid race driver, its the driver that makes the car.

Audi R8 Themed Catamaran

Audi, Audi R8, gadgets, Renderings, Audi R8 Catamaran

Why on earth would someone design a speedboat inspired from the Audi R8? Well, if we didn’t know better, we’d say that the catamaran’s designer probably wanted to style cars but instead ended up in the shipping business as the R8 Catamaran is Bo Zolland’s second automobile-inspired speedboat after the 1963 Corvette Stingray lookalike catamaran According to the Swedish designer, the 8.8 meter long R8 speedboat has been designed to use a V10 biodiesel marine engine or two smaller 320 HP diesel units helping it to achieve a theoretical top speed of 110 MPH. Audi R8 Spider Rendering

 Audi, Audi R8, Renderings

Expected to arrive in mid-2009, the R8 Spider will be an open-top derivative of Audi’s successful supercar. While Audi has yet to reveal any details or pictures of the R8 Spider, a reader from the website Germancarscene, named Marcel de Graaf, decided to tease us with a computer generated image. The result is pretty convincing though we’re not sure about the canvas hood as our sources in Germany have stated that Audi will probably go for a targa top solution.

Audi R8 with 457 HP by Wheelsandmore

Audi, Audi R8, Tuning

Wheelsandmore is a relatively unknown German tuning firm that specializes on high-end sportscars. Their latest proposition concerns the Audi R8 coupe for which they have developed a series of upgrades. Starting off with the R8’s 4.2-liter V8 engine, Wheelsandmore reprogrammed the ECU and added a new, handmade stainless steel exhaust system with valve control. As a result, output has been raised by 37Hp to 457Hp.

To better the R8’s handling, the German tuning firm has used new sport springs along with lowering the car’s road clearance by 25mm. Wheelsandmore also offers two different types of ultra light forged alloy wheels and a special brake system with 8 piston calipers and 14.96 inch brake discs combined with special race pads.

Fresh from its appearance as the safety car at the Le Mans 24 hours, the Audi R8 will be take on the same role in the DTM race series and the model will make it a double debut with a second R8 serving as a racing taxi as well.

As you would expect from the superb mid-engined sportscar, the required modifications were only minimal. “There were not many modifications required, though, because the R8 possesses the genes of a perfect sports car,” says Werner Frowein, managing director of quattro GmbH.

Both the safety car and racing taxi will be used for the first time at the Norisring Speed Weekend.

Audi R8 V10 Spotted at quattro

Ever since the Audi R8 strutted onto the scene there have been rumors and later the first sightings of the V10 powered version. Finally the R8 V10 is nearing production status after some initial fears that the project may just be cut altogether due to heat problems.

Last week the ever present Nurburgring experts Bridge to Gantry spotted the R8 V10 doing some laps, today we have audiblog.nl to thank for some up-close-and-personal photos of this V10 beast.

The audiphiles among us will immediately spot the missing ‘fin’ underneath the headlamps while the rear is missing two of the horizontal fins. Further than that, the two larger exhaust pipes (instead of two double exhausts) and the side scoops have larger air-intakes for the necessary cooling of the engine.

We are not sure, but the R8 V10 looks to be lowered too but that could just be an clever aesthetic illusion achieved through the quattro body kit.
