BMW Reportedly Working on ‘Green’ Supercar for 2012

  BMW, BMW Concepts, Concepts, Ecology

The folks over at Autocar magazine are reporting that BMW is exploring a plan to build an “eco-conscious” - we hate using the term “eco-friendly” on performance orientated vehicles - supercar that would rival the Audi R8, Porsche 911 and Mercedes-Benz’s forthcoming SLR McLaren successor, the so-called SLC. Company insiders are said to have described the as-yet-unnamed ‘green’ supercar as A modern day M1 and one that ‘ draws on all the very latest BMW technology and lightweight build processes.’
The British magazine suggests that the two-seater supercar will be mid-engined, most likely featuring a revised version of the Bavarian firm’s 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged straight six petrol unit.

IED Students Design the BMW of 2015, Bangle is more than Proud

BMW, BMW Concepts, Renderings

Don’t you just hate it when designers create something different or plain ugly with the sole purpose of standing out of the crowd without taking aesthetics and beauty into account? Because that seems to be the case with these renderings from the design students at Turin-based IED (Istituto Europeo di Design) that took part in a project to create a BMW of 2015 that was supervised by the Bavarian carmaker. The students were subdivided into 18 teams (yes, we have a loner) and the design proposals elaborated by all teams were later evaluated with the selection of 12, out of which 8 were developed in 1:4 models, in collaboration with Cecomp, and the remaining 4 turned into virtual models. All we can say is that a new generation of Bungle designers is coming our way… Continued

M-Zero Concept

Astin Martin, BMW Concepts, BMW m-zero, DB9, Mercedes Benz

M-Zero is a car concept inspired by BMW M series which also consider Mercedes Benz (as the backlight) and DB9 Aston Martin (the global silhouette of is definitely inspired by the DB9). Maël Oberkampf, the designer of M-Zero actually tried to make a model which could be considered as the equivalent of the R8 from Audi. And the result is M-Zero, a car concept that is the “synthesis” between the actual BMW design and a high an performance car which could become the most powerful model of the BMW legacy. The exterior looks great, very BMW style, but we are hoping to be able to see the interior design, we bet it’s futuristic
