It’s hard to make a BMW M3 any more bad-ass than it already is. Fortunately Brabham Racing is up to the task, as you can see from the image above.
If the name sounds familiar, it could be because it’s one of the best known names in racing. Or at least it was. Founded in 1960 by legendary Australian F1 driver Jack Brabham, the racing constructor went bust from financial liabilities in 1992, but not before winning the F1 drivers’ title four times and the constructors’ crown twice with such noted drivers as Dan Gurney, both Damon and Graham Hill, Niki Lauda and Nelson Piquet. Brabham’s own 1966 title remains the only championship won in a car bearing its driver’s name. Now after a nearly 16-year hiatus, Brabham is back, and it’s starting out by modifying BMWs.

When it comes to styling packages, one is never enough - even from the same manufacturer. BMW tuning specialist Hartge is enhancing its line-up of products for the M3 Coupe and Cabriolet models with the introduction of a new four-piece set that consists of a front-end lip spoiler, a rear diffuser covering, a boot-lid spoiler and optionally, carbon-fiber mirror caps. It goes without saying that the folks over at Hartge will be more than happy to complement the E92 (Coupe) and E93 (Convertible) M3 styling kit with a set of alloy wheels as well as with an array of performance-orientated upgrades.

The current worldwide economic climate has claimed yet another automotive casualty: the BMW Concept CS. The German automaker cites a distinct lack of profitability as the main reason the CS project has been canceled. Last quarter, the boys and girls from Bavaria returned a profit of just 1.3% from its global automotive operations, and a low-volume halo sedan like the CS would only serve to drive that figure further downward. So, expect the brand-new 7 Series to remain at the top of BMW’s model lineup for now.

AC Schnitzer present X6 Falcon - a project largely following the styling features seen on the recently-launched new X5 of the same name. The newest predator in its namesake’s valley territory, AC Schnitzer are keen to point out the X6 Falcon’s parallels to its bird of prey counterpart. Broad wings are however where the name originates, but such characteristics go more than skin deep. Continued

The folks over at Autocar magazine are reporting that BMW is exploring a plan to build an “eco-conscious” - we hate using the term “eco-friendly” on performance orientated vehicles - supercar that would rival the Audi R8, Porsche 911 and Mercedes-Benz’s forthcoming SLR McLaren successor, the so-called SLC. Company insiders are said to have described the as-yet-unnamed ‘green’ supercar as A modern day M1 and one that ‘ draws on all the very latest BMW technology and lightweight build processes.’
The British magazine suggests that the two-seater supercar will be mid-engined, most likely featuring a revised version of the Bavarian firm’s 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged straight six petrol unit.

Who would have imagined that the BMW X6 crossover-coupe-hatchback mismatch would look so good in a pure evil matte-black paint finish. Personally, we’d have maintained the silver color alloy wheels but other than that, this BMW X6 that looks like it was spotted in a parking lot somewhere in Austria -judging by the license plates that is- gets our full approval. Hit the jump for more pictures. Continued

BMW took the wraps off its upcoming S 1000 RR World Superbike contender as the Motorrad division showed the new bike in its official race colors at the Intermot show in Cologne, Germany. Taking a good look at the photos, we can see that the bike is indeed very compact. Look through the numerous cutouts and vents in the fairing and you’ll see how neat and tidy the new literbike is. Next year, new BMW factory riders Ruben Xaus and past Superbike champion Troy Corser will ride the 190-horsepower S 1000 RR in competition against the Big Four Japanese superbikes, the Ducati 1098 R and the new RSV4 from Aprilia. It should all be very exciting to watch.
Expect a street-going version shortly, with 1,000 units of the new model due for 2009. Unlike past Beamers, the S 1000 RR uses an inline four-cylinder engine mounted transversely in the frame with a standard chain drive. Suspension bits also follow the normal telescopic formula up front with a traditional coil-over out back, eschewing BMW’s past Telelever, Duolever and Paralever designs. Take a look in our gallery below. Continued
