The star attraction at Ford’s stand at the Thailand Motor Expo that runs from November 28 to December 10 is the Ranger Max pickup truck concept. A team of Ford truck specialists in Thailand worked closely with Ford’s Australia-based Asia Pacific and Africa design team, led by Paul Gibson, to create the Ranger Max. According to Ford, many of the design cues seen on the concept could find their way into the next-generation production model of the Ranger.

car ahead of the sports sedan’s official debut at the Detroit Motor Show in early January 2009. The four-door-coupe concept’s goal is to give us an indication of what the all-new 2010 Volvo S60 will look like when it’s launched in the market early 2010. The first exterior picture that comes about a month after the release of an interior teaser photo shows that Volvo’s designers came up with a pretty aggressive shape with a coupe-inspired silhouette and what appear to be suicide-rear-doors.

While the Challenger is sure to get most of the attention at SEMA, nevertheless Dodge also brought along four tricked-out Ram pickup trucks. Starting off with the Ram R/T pictured above, the concept is based on the 2009 Ram Sport with a 380HP 5.7-liter HEMI V8 and it’s supposedly inspired from the re-born Challenger. Mopar Underground painted the R/T truck in a classic B5 Blue and added a bodykit which consists of sill and box pieces, finished up with a chin spoiler, dual-snorkel aluminum hood and carbon-fiber accent stripes.
The concept rides on Mopar 22-inch Alcoas alloys wrapped in 285/45R22s in front and 305/40R22s in the rear. Finally, the interior features Katzkin leather seats with body-color stitching to match the instrument panel and steering wheel.

Toyota showed off three Tundra concepts in Las Vegas but the coolest one in town was by far was the Ducati Desmosedici Transporter. Built to carry the only street legal MotoGP bike ever produced, the scorching hot Ducati Desmosedici RR, the customized Tundra has been modified to accept a 6.5-inch bed that features flip up bedsides and a motorized loading ramp. The pickup truck is of course tied thematically to the bike, incorporating the Italian motorcycle company’s red paint finish with white stripes. Power is provided by a 5.7-liter supercharged V8 engine producing 500HP and 550-lbs/ft of torque.

Hyundai seems to have taken this year’s SEMA gathering quite seriously as aside from the four Genesis Coupes the Korean automaker also revealed three Genesis sedan concepts in Vegas. First up is the RKSport Genesis that features a supercharged version of Hyundai’s 4.6-liter Tau V8 engine producing 460HP. It also boasts cylinder deactivation technology that allegedly helps it deliver an estimated 18mpg in city and 27mpg on the highway. According to RKSports, the 460HP Genesis reaches 60mph (96km/h) in 4.9 sec and clicks through the quarter mile in 13.58 sec at 108 mph.

Mopar Underground’s design team deserves plenty of kudos for creating one of the nicest modded Challengers we’ve seen. The concept began life as a factory 2009 Dodge Challenger R/T equipped with a 5.7-liter HEMI V8 and 6-speed manual transmission. The crew at Mopar Underground gave the Challenger R/T a black-on-black racing stripe paint scheme and added custom-made spoilers along with altering the front clip to create added “brow” over the grill. To finish off the look, the Challenger R/T rides on massive 22-inch Dodge Viper wheels from Factory Reproductions wrapped in Dunlop tires measuring 265/35 R22 front and 305/30 R22 rear. Continued

The folks over at Autocar magazine are reporting that BMW is exploring a plan to build an “eco-conscious” - we hate using the term “eco-friendly” on performance orientated vehicles - supercar that would rival the Audi R8, Porsche 911 and Mercedes-Benz’s forthcoming SLR McLaren successor, the so-called SLC. Company insiders are said to have described the as-yet-unnamed ‘green’ supercar as A modern day M1 and one that ‘ draws on all the very latest BMW technology and lightweight build processes.’
The British magazine suggests that the two-seater supercar will be mid-engined, most likely featuring a revised version of the Bavarian firm’s 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged straight six petrol unit.
