The company that builds them, RaceChairs, uses refurbished seats from various automakers including Ferrari, Maserati, Lamborghini, Porsche and even Corvette. But as with anything else in this world that captivates our imagination, the exotic office chairs come with a price. And we mean this in a literal sense as depending on the condition of the original seat, a Ferrari 360 office chair can cost you around $6,000 and a Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 chair up to $11,000.

At a time when stock markets are tumbling, people are losing their jobs and the auto industry is struggling to make ends meet, there’s one company that’s as good as gold: Alchemist. You may remember the London-based firm from our previous story on the gold-plated roofs - if you don’t. Well, the luxury customization company decided to take gold-plating to another level by developing a one-off, 24-carat gold and platinum-leafed Aston Martin DB7 that will make its first public appearance at the MPH motorshow featuring Top Gear Live at London’s Earls Court from 30 October to 2 November. The world’s coolest police car is going out of action only to be replaced by an even cooler one. In a private ceremony in Italy, Lamborghini donated a police version of the company’s newest super sports car, the 2009 Gallardo LP560-4 Polizia, to the head of the Italian State Police, Prefect Antonio Manganelli. The new that Lambo replaces the previous Gallardo in use by the Italian police force since 2004 has a more powerful 560HP V10 engine and it can reach speeds of up to 203 mph or 327 km/h. The car will be used by the Lazio Highway Police Department. We don’t know about the Lazio cops, but if we were in their shoes we’d be constantly chasing ghosts… Continued

Matte colors are becoming extremely popular lately among enthusiasts and this is something that doesn’t go by unnoticed from large tuning houses like ABT. The German customization firm not only presented a matte black film for the Q7 SUV but it also took a step further by introducing a new matte black carbon-fiber wrap that’s available for the AS4, AS7 and R8 ABT vehicles as well as for the standard factory Audi A4, Q7 and R8 models. Like every year, Neiman Marcus has introduced its Christmas catalog in October for those who get a kick of early holiday shopping. This year’s list includes a special edition version of the all-new 2009 BMW 7-Series that has been carefully customized by the team over at BMW’s Individual department. We can’t but help wonder if this is the right time to launch a $160k car but we guess Neiman Marcus and BMW probably know better. Based on the 750iL that’s equipped with a twin-turbocharged V8 engine, the Neiman Marcus Limited-Edition BMW Individual 7-Series has been treated among other things with special iridescent ‘Diopside Black’ metallic paintwork and ‘Champagne Merino’ leather interior with contrasting piping and trim. BMW’s Individual team also accented the interior with Piano Black trim elements and a new steering wheel.

In honor of the 7 Series’ 31st anniversary, only 31 of the personalized 750iLs have been built. The Neiman Marcus customers who buy the car will be able to take delivery of the luxury sedans from the BMW Welt center in Munich, Germany in April 2009. But the treat doesn’t end there as they will also be granted insider access to BMW before hitting the road for a ‘short trip’ to Monaco, Nice and Cannes after which their cars will be shipped to the States

The all-new P’9522 is the result of yet another team-up between French cell-phone maker Sagem and Porsche Design. Even though its styling looks the product of a one-night stand between a Sony-Ericcson candybar and an iPhone, overall, the iPorsche err, we mean the P’9522 is pretty good looking. The candybar which is carved from an aluminum block also comes equipped with decent features like a 5 Megapixels digital camera, a large 2.8-inch touch screen, GPS, a WiFi connector and even a MicroSD fingerprint reader that allows users to be authenticated by fingerprints. Oddly enough, the Sagem-developed P’9522 doesn’t come with 3G support but we doubt anyone will care. The Porsche-branded cell phone is expected to go on sale in France in November with other markets following shortly after. Justifying its Porsche name, the P’9522 will be priced in France at €600 or about $865 US.

Why on earth would someone design a speedboat inspired from the Audi R8? Well, if we didn’t know better, we’d say that the catamaran’s designer probably wanted to style cars but instead ended up in the shipping business as the R8 Catamaran is Bo Zolland’s second automobile-inspired speedboat after the 1963 Corvette Stingray lookalike catamaran According to the Swedish designer, the 8.8 meter long R8 speedboat has been designed to use a V10 biodiesel marine engine or two smaller 320 HP diesel units helping it to achieve a theoretical top speed of 110 MPH.
